New Mexico State Fair: What’s happening on day 1?
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Gates opened at 10 a.m. Thursday, officially kicking off the New Mexico State Fair at Expo New Mexico in Albuquerque.
The Good Times Band had the first performance at the Villa Hispaña from 12-1:30 p.m. Then, while that was happening, our own Gabe Salazar judged the Unique Foods Contest at the Chevron Pavilion.
At 4 p.m., the Cellicion Zuni Dancers will perform at the Indian Village. Then, at 7:30 p.m., Raven and the Sweet Potato Band will perform at the African American Pavilion.
The First Standard Flower Show is also happening at the Flower Building from 1-1:30 p.m. The Wool Show Fleece in Place is at Pattern Energy Jr. Livestock Pavilion from 5-7 p.m.
Along with these events, there are all sorts of things to do. Whether it’s an exhibit with all sorts of New Mexico-centric props, petting zoos with goats or longhorn rides, the New Mexico State Fair is celebrating our state’s vibrant culture.
