ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — New Mexico is home to many great and fun products – and starting next week, you can get a reward for capturing your support for the industry that makes it all happen.

The NM Department of Agriculture’s ‘$5 Challenge’ is aimed at having households spend an additional $5 a week on New Mexico products to bolster the state’s economy and ag industry. Starting May 31, when you upload a picture of yourself with a New Mexico food, beverage or agricultural product, you’ll be entered in a weekly drawing for a prize.

Eligible products for purchase include freshly-grown vegetables, sauces, jams, tortillas, craft beers and wine. Prizes consist of various NM products, such as chiles and gift bags of goodies from state food and drink associations.

One entry per week is allowed for five weeks total.

NMDA’s Jason New joined Joy Wang to discuss the department’s $5 Challenge and what you can do to get in on the fun.
