ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Planet Fitness is inviting teens to work out for free all summer.
“Teens between 14 and 19 will be able to work out 100% free at any of our locations nationwide from May 16 to Aug. 31,” New Mexico Regional Manager Edgardo Meza said.
The free pass is meant to encourage youth to get active.
“What we want to do is we want to open our doors and invite teens to come in and work on their physical health and work on their mental well-being too,” Meza said.
He said this can spur a lifetime of healthy choices, boost confidence and prioritize well-being.
“High school students who are overweight is 14.2% in Albuquerque alone, so just really being able to come into an atmosphere and workout, be healthy, and work on your mental health too, is important for us,” Meza said.
Any teen who signs up is also automatically entered for a chance to win scholarships. Someone in each state will win $500 and there will be a grand prize of $5,000.
Youth who are interested in signing up can do so at a gym or online. Those under 18 will need a parent or guardian’s consent. For more information, click here.
