Police release video of officer shooting suspect in SE Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Albuquerque police released new video Friday showing the moments before an officer shot a suspect in the legs last month.
Officers say they were patrolling near Pennsylvania and Central when they found a man spray painting the wheels of a suspected stolen car. That man was identified as 34-year-old Pablo Abreu-Pena.
In the video, Abreu-Pena can be seen running away from officers before circling back to the vehicle to grab a gun. That’s when officers shot and injured him.
APD leaders say they worked with New Mexico State Police to track him to a nearby apartment complex.
At last check, Abreu-Penais still recovering in a hospital.
