ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – It was a long weekend full of firework displays put on by the Albuquerque Isotopes and the big Freedom 4th display at Balloon Fiesta Park Monday night. But for some residents, they had to sit through another night of illegal fireworks right in their own neighborhood.

“I think this is the worst year I’ve ever seen because it was like you’re at Balloon Fiesta Park watching professional pyrotechnics, but you’re in a residential neighborhood,” said one resident, who didn’t want to be on camera.

She also said she asked her neighbors to stop lighting the fireworks and they laughed at her.

“At one point I went out and I asked them to stop, the people were in the street in the middle of the street launching fireworks. I said ‘please stop launching the fireworks over my house’ and it seemed like after that they launched more directly over my house,” she said.

She put multiple reports into the city’s 311 app, but she said no one came out to check. And other Albuquerque residents said they’ve had the same problem too.

“Well, on the, on the app, the 311 fireworks reporting app, I reported at least three complaints myself, anonymously on there. No one came, there was no nobody from the city or fire anybody came on my street. We’re not getting any results from this and it’s just getting more dramatic,” another resident said.
