Torrez wins Democratic primary for New Mexico attorney general

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Raúl Torrez has claimed the Democratic nomination for attorney general. The current Bernalillo County District Attorney faced state auditor Brian Colón in the New Mexico primary.

Torrez will face Republican candidate Jeremy Gay in November. However, no Republican has won the race for New Mexico attorney general since 1986.

As of 10 p.m. Tuesday, Torrez has 53% of the vote and Colón has 47% of the vote.
