SANTA FE, N.M. — This Saturday, you can get in on a New Mexico tradition and chow down on some pizza while doing it.

Zozobra will be stuffed this Saturday at the Santa Fe Place Mall from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is the first time in two years that the public will get the chance to stuff the 50-foot-tall Old Man Gloom to its wood, wire and shredded paper glory.

“These last two years have been very difficult,” event organizer Ray Sandoval said. “Because of the pandemic, we only had seven of us and it almost took us over two months to get this done.”

Earlier this month, auditions were held to find the new voice of the ionic Marionette. Over 60 people auditioned and organizers narrowed it down to a few finalists.

The Burning of Will Shuster’s Zozobra will be Sept. 2. Tickets and more information are available on the Zozobra website.
