Eddie Garcia
Chief Meteorologist Eddie Garcia came to KOB 4 in September 2010 as a general assignments reporter but quickly transitioned to weather forecasting in 2012. He received his Broadcast Meteorology Certification from Mississippi State University. Eddie is thrilled to present You Asked 4 It, a series that showcases ever creative and scientific ways of answering direct questions from viewers. Eddie hopes the series promotes science literacy in New Mexico, a place with a rich history of scientific achievement.
Eddie started his TV career at 17 years old, working behind the scenes at KMLM-TV in Midland, Texas and KEYE-TV in Austin, Texas. By the age of 23, he decided to cross over to reporting while he was a news photographer at KOSA-TV in Odessa, Texas. Eddie has won numerous awards stemming back to his coverage of Hurricanes Katrina and Ike, tornadoes, wildfires, floods and more. New Mexico has always been a part of Eddie’s life and he and his family continue to thrive in the Land of Enchantment.
Eddie loves hiking in the Sandias, soaking in the natural springs in T or C and enjoying the amazing food in Santa Fe – not to mention his passion for camping and hitting the ski resorts during the winter. Eddie’s education in Meteorology is from Mississippi State University, as well as his education in Journalism from The University of Texas of The Permian Basin. Experience has been his best teacher over the past 15 years working with some of the best meteorologists in the business and studying weather first-hand out in the field. Eddie is humbled to forecast the weather for New Mexico and is proud to work side-by-side with the finest weather team in New Mexico.
