Kira Miner

Her forecasts are getting New Mexico ready for their busy days – Kira Miner is the meteorologist for KOB 4’s weekday morning and noon newscasts. She comes to New Mexico with a great background in all kinds of weather forecasting.

Her fascination with weather began at an early age in her home state of Florida where summertime thunderstorms were a daily occurrence. Then after Category 5 Hurricane Andrew made landfall just south of her hometown, her interest in meteorology intensified, leading to a focus on both Meteorology and Geography at Florida State University.

After graduating, Kira interned and also produced weather at a local affiliate during the most active Atlantic hurricane season on record.

A career move took her from the land of hurricanes to Tornado Alley where she did weather at KTAB in Abilene and became very familiar with windstorms, ice, and snow.

After holding meteorologist positions at another Florida station (NBC2) and in Arkansas at KARK, she returned to the changeable, challenging weather of Texas – this time in El Paso at CBS4/KFOX 14.

Other favorite “downtime” activities include travel, time with family and friends, and cheering on her Florida Seminoles. Kira also loves cooking and enjoys learning more about one particular aspect of New Mexico’s culture – the food.
