Veteran reporter Matt Grubs has been part of the 4 Investigates team since October 2021 but is no stranger to New Mexicans who keep an eye on the news.
He’s spent two decades reporting on New Mexico’s people, politics and policy. Matt’s passionate about good government and dedicated to producing responsible, clear coverage. Over the years, he’s focused on a variety of subjects including housing, policing, border issues, faith communities, snowstorms, wildfires, drought and more. There’s a good chance he’s checked in on any story you can think of over the past 20 years. Matt has been honored by several professional organizations for his work on TV and with newspapers.
New Mexico is home, but Matt’s made career stops in Dallas, Orlando and Grand Junction, Colorado along the way. His first job was in Minneapolis/St. Paul, where he was born and raised. He loves spending time in the wild parts of New Mexico. When he’s not mountain biking, hiking, skiing or snowshoeing, he’s often plodding through the top two books on his nightstand stack.
Matt is constantly on the lookout for good stories or the chance to talk to people about what journalists do and how the news gets made. Find him at firstname.lastname@example.org or @MattGrubs on Twitter.
