ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Albuquerque police arrested 16-year-old Luis Diaz Wednesday for his role in the murder of Alana Gamboa on the Fourth of July.

APD has already arrested 14-year-old Lorenzo Lovato and 15-year-old Micalas McClendon for the murder.

Detectives found that Lovato, who went by the nickname, “Lil Benzo,” arranged to purchase mushrooms and marijuana cartridge vaporizer pens from Gamboa. Witnesses said Lovato was setting Gamboa up to rob her.

Police say Gamboa and Lovato agreed to meet in the area of Columbia Drive and Kathryn Drive SE. When Gamboa arrived, she was shot as she sat in the driver’s seat of her car and reportedly reached for a gun. Gamboa died as a result of a gunshot that went through her arm and struck her heart and lungs.
