ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Crews from Albuquerque Fire Rescue, the Bernalillo County Fire Department, and New Mexico State Forestry continue to work on hotspots after a fire erupted in the bosque near Montaño earlier this week.

Albuquerque fire officials said 100 personnel are on scene, strengthening containment lines and clearing fallen trees.

The fire burned approximately 34 acres after it reportedly started Wednesday night on the west side of the Rio Grande and jumped to the east side. On Thursday, city officials announced the large bosque fire had been contained.

Crews will remain in the area over the coming days.
